Separation Anxiety

January 11, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Since Aidan was born, I have been a stay-at-home-mom.  Any work I did was from home.  He has been with me 24/7 for almost four years now.  There have been a few week-long trips with his daddy or the one trip to visit grama.  But other than that, I’ve been there.

Last week was a bit tough for him to get used to.  I take him to school at 9 every morning.  At 11 I pick him up, we go home and have lunch, then I take him to Mandy’s where ‘Grama Bell’ (Mandy’ mother-in-law) watches him from 12 to 7.  I keep Sam with me for now.  By Thursday of last week, Aidan was crying when I’d drop him off.  It was terrible!

I had hardly seen him all week it seems.  We spent the early mornings and evening together which is typical of working parent homes.  But in our little world, that is hardly any time at all.  I admit, it was strange to not see him most of every day.  I think keeping Sam with me is also playing into Aidan’s distress.

Friday we overslept.  So I kept Aidan home from school and brought him to the office with me.  I only work 12-4 on Friday’s so I thought we’d be able to have some time together.  It really helped.  Which was good since our weekend was jam-packed and once again I hardly saw him.

This morning when I dropped him off at school he was just fine.  And again when I dropped him off at Mandy’s.  I hope that he can settle into this new routine quickly.  I hate seeing him so sad!

That is so hard when they cry like that. :0( Heartbreaking! Hope he settles in. I guess Sam is adjusting?

I got the Nikon D3000 with the additional VR lens 55m-200m. UV filters on the lenses and a camera bag plus a big ol’ warranty on the sucker. Because I am a klutz and if I break it. I need it replaced. LOL.

That is heart-wrenching! I don’t get to see my son in the morning before I elave and only see him 45 minutes at night on the 4 days a week I work. It’s amazing to see the difference in his personality when I spend the day with him and the days I work. Little boys need their mommies!
