Back To School Time

October 27, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

For a while now I have been wanting to go back to school.  There have been reasons along the way the prevented me:  time, money, motivation, whatever.  Lately I’ve been pondering this and decided to go for it.

I applied with the University of Phoenix because they are one of the few accredited schools that allow for you to earn your degree exclusively online.  I understand that many women go to school full-time, work, and take care of their kids by themselves.  For me, I needed something so that I can stay home with the kids and not have to hunt down sitters all the time.  Aside from the monetary factor, I don’t have a huge list of people to choose from.

Anyway, this school allows me to do my schooling, take care of the kids, and still do my photography.  I’ll be earning my Associate’s in Business.  This will help with running my own business as well as allowing me a backup should anything every happen to Daniel.

My classes start on the 9th and I’ll be carrying a full course load.  I’m a bit nervous and excited at the same time.  It’s been over 10 years since I have been in school.  What if I’m not as smart as I used to be?  Or if I’m really just a dork?  I’m a little nervous about whether it will be a lot to handle with what I already have going on.  Once I get into the coursework, I’m sure I’ll be fine.

Financial aid is going to cover almost half of my yearly tuition so I won’t be going into debt too much so that takes some stress off.  This is what I need right now.  I need to expand my knowledge and skills not only for this business but for anything else I have planned in the future.  I don’t want to just be a stay-at-home-mom/housewife.  I love those roles but I want to be well-rounded and able to do anything.

Here’s to my future as a student!

I am sure you will do awesome. I think most people who go back to college later in life do better, because they are more serious about what they are doing. And they are paying for it themselves!
